Wood Packaging Material
From 1st March 2021, Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/127 of 3rd February 2021 lays down plant health checks and measures to be taken on wood packaging material in use in the transport of certain specified commodities originating in China, India and Belarus before customs release.The aim is to prevent the introduction and spread of harmful organisms, in particular Anoplophora glabripennis (Motschulsky).

Forest Plant Health
The Federal Forest Office is in accordance with the Austrian Plant Protection Act 2018 (= Federal Act on Measures for the Protection of Plants from Plant Pests) and the BFW Act 2015 (= Federal Act, establishing a Federal Research and Training Center for Forests, Natural Hazards and Landscape as an institution under public law and the Federal Office for Forests is set up) responsible for phytosanitary import controls of wood (including wood packing material), forest plants and seeds.
